I switched to boards a few months ago and very glad I did. I had folded everything and neatly stacked them before, but couldn't fit all my fabric on the shelves and ALWAYS needed the fabric near the bottom of the stack and it would get wonky. I didn't want to have to reorganize every time I needed something. My stash is mostly FQ's and half yards, so I cut the boards in half. Left a few intact for the yard plus pieces. Now, everything fits on my bookshelf and I can pull fabrics much easier without disturbing all the rest. I realized my shelf was deep enough for 2 rows, so hubby made me sturdy cardboard shelf risers for the back row so I can still see everything. Before and after pic below. I think it is odd that some people consider 1 yard a scrap...
They would consider 95% of my stash scraps!
