Based on the shape and pin, I'm guessing that it needs to ride on something to turn the cams underneath. Then knowing where the "Red Dot" is so can get it set right or at least so can sew with ZZ. Maybe you can find someone parting out a machine on ebay.
Good luck. It seems are there are quite a few of these machines out there. And they really are cute. I know I sewed something on mine, but don't remember what.
