If you do a search on Modern quilts, you might find what you are looking for. Or maybe not. Most of the ones I saw give the illusion of not being even but it's just because of fabric choices around the edges. But then I thought, what if you didn't fill in the edges so you actually have the irregular border.

And then I started thinking about Flags with irregular edges and that led me down the path to Raw Edge Tile on walls. I think you might have to take inspiration from your design. Tree leaves, bricks or cobblestones going up a walkway. Blocks set on point that don't have setting triangles. It's fascinating thinking about all the possibilities.
