Thank you! Tube---you sew the strips together in the order that you want them to be in the quilt, say using 6 colors, #1 thru #6. Then you sew #1 to #6, forming a tube.

Then, when you are using a pattern, it will tell you where to take the seams apart, so that you get your pattern. For example, On this 12" block that I made for my first bargello attempt, starting at the left, after you cut the tube into the required sizes (1", 1.5", 2", etc.) the pattern will tell you what seams to take apart. Like the seam between the dk pink and yellow, then the seam between the blue and dk pink, etc.
