    Hi
I just purchased a Babylock/Juki serger, that is a BL3-407. Where can I get a manual, what kind of needles and thread do I want to use, and how old is it? Any other information would be greatly appreciated, I have no idea how to use a serger.
    Thanks

There is a yahoo group for people who use sergers. Perhaps you can check there to see if anyone knows more about that brand of serger. Generally if you e-mail the manufacturer they can tell you how old the machine is and get a manual for you.

You have the original workhorse serger for the home sewer. I have the same one, bought it new in '81-82. I don't use it much now, since I'm doing more quilting than sewing, but it's been well worth the money I spent. In all the time I've had it, it's been serviced twice, and it has been used, believe me. I have a manual for it, I'll see if I can find it and make a copy for you, as far as the needles, I would go to a sewing machine dealer and get them there. If you have any other questions, please feel free to PM me and I'll try to answer any questions.

    Hi pocoellie,

A while ago you answered a question about the BL3-407. I just bought one on the weekend but unfortunately it didn't come with a manual. I'm dying to use it but have no idea how to even thread it up. I was wondering whether you scanned in the manual and sent it and whether you might be able to send it to me as well. Would love it if you could.
So glad to hear its a workhorse. It certainly looks sturdy enough.
    thanks,

I know this thread is very old, but I am in the same shoes as babyhett. I just purchased a bl3-407 and, of course, no manual. Does anyone have a digital copy they could email me please? Many thanks!

    Default juki babylock BL3-407 manual

Wow, it seems a lot of people have the same problem! I too have this machine & no manual. I am familiar with sergers so I don't have any problem threading this or using it for the most part. I bought this primarily to use for rolled hems & I can use it with 3 threads, but it is not working as it should when I switch to 2 threads. I replaced the "finger" (it was broken off) that has to be turned down when used with 2 threads, but there has to be something else--another adjustment, or perhaps a part is missing. But I don't have a manual!!! So I can't check it out. Did anyone here get a digital copy?
