JanW - that's an awesome find! There is one thing I would mention that I did differently than the Big Horn Quilts pattern instructions. They say to make all the pinwheels the same, as far as dark being in the same place on each block. I did half with dark on one side, and the other half with dark on the other side. This makes for interesting shading throughout the quilt. That may not make much sense as you read it, but in practice, I got the results I was hoping for.

    Dallasnewsgirl & Joey, Thank you!

As for my helper, where was she yesterday, when I was doing dusting & vacuuming? Off somewhere taking a nap, no doubt!

Thanks for the tip, what did you think of the cutting instructions for the pinwheels, I've never tried that before.

JanW, I have always done a similar layout for cutting multiple HST's....the instructions were in a book I have. I must admit, though, I was always using 4 7/8 as my grid measurement, and sometimes I would end up with a wonky assembly. I decided in the future I would use a 5", and do the final block trimming when the pinwheel is fully assembled. This will eliminate remaking the occasional square!

Oh, another thing I would point out, if using the Big Horn instructions, when doing the 16-patch blocks, I would ignore light and dark, and just go for random.
The pinwheels are random as well, but for pressing purposes, if two fabrics are about the same value, I decide which one is playing the dark part, and press appropriately.

My quilt top is done and now I will stitch in the ditch to quilt it. After all this hard work, would like to send it to the LAQ, but lots of money in it already. Mine looks totaly different and is 96x96, so will be a struggle to quilt. I will have to post it when quilting is finished, so thanks jdavis for the wonderful inspiration. This is a great pattern and has several optical illusions when finished. I would use this pattern again
