Mis-cut Border

Either save it for another quilt or re-do-it. That way you won't have to look at it evry time and say--I shuda.

It would make great sashing for another quilt. I would just get more for the one you are working on and plan another.

Okay, I really don't think I'm dumb or stupid. In fact, I'm sure I think way too highly of myself! Thanks to all of you who've been so sweet to correct me and to offer suggestions. I would also scrap that piece and cut a new piece for your binding.

In a piano boarder the pieces are seamed ACROSS the width of the border and they will remain as a single layer on the top no different from a pieced block. In binding, you already deal with double the thickness of fabric on a regular piece. When you sew the pieces together and press the seams open you have to deal with 4 layers and that can get bulky.

I think you are asking for more trouble than it's worth. Can you find another piece of striped fabric that you can cut in WOF?

I don't understand why this happens but yesterday I cut about half the quilt pieces out wrong guess I don't think and like they say measure twice or check twice before you cut.

Maybe you could use this striped fabric as a border on your quilt and opick a color from it for the binding.

Well, if you just want the colored strips around the edge of the quilt, I would add it length ways on the top as an additional border and then add a solid color binding. I did this on a quilt where I screwed up and made the same mistake you did and it looked pretty sharp when it was finished. Good luck and forgive yourself.

couldn't you sew all the lengthwise strips together, then cut across them for the same effect? seems like it would be quicker and a good save of fabric!
