Here are some of the patterns I’m aware of, and a link to pictures. Often the same layout has different names, depending on the quilt maker.

6 patterns??????????? Next time you go to the library or a quilt store, look up .............................

The Quilter's Album of Patchwork Patterns: 4050 Pieced Blocks for Quilters by Jinny Beyer (Oct 15, 2009).........................

You'll find more patterns than you can imagine.

Traditional quilts are by far combinations of HST and squares.

I think that a split 9 patch has a HST in the center instead of a plain block. I found this block on Amish Country Lanes called scrapaholic, http://www.amishcountrylanes.com/Pages/hs5114.shtml but it may have other names as well.

    Very nice quilts shown here.

Here's one I did a while ago; the shading is a bit different.

Wow!! Love all the quilts, so many great ideas! I'm retiring in February and can't wait to start working with my stash! Now I have even more ideas of what to do.
