CD, I think it was your site where I made the visual confirmation. I recognize the tape. What's the raised portion for on the left side of the top of the arm? That was my other give away. I hadn't remembered that the 31 was an oscillating machine but that makes sense, since it's basically an over grown 15.

I really WANT this machine, but do not want to pay 56 bucks for shipping.

Not this time. We've been struggling financially for a while now. More sewing machines are going to have to wait unless they fall into my lap. I do like looking though. We have to get stable before I buy much of anything not absolutely necessary. That's ok. It's going to be at least 6 weeks before I get fitted for a new leg anyway. Lifting and carrying is an issue right now.
This guy has a pretty in depth article on the various versions of that machine.

I have been thinking about industrial machine for the last week or so, and I am getting so tired of seeing Singer 99's and 15's labeled "Industrial Strength" and there are to many to point to.... even one very nice 306k Black "freshly serviced industrial strength ready to run" $599. also saw a cute little 185 and several just old machines a singer 237 I think
anyway took this picture today while I was cleaning stuff and it reminds me of all those ads.
