I am making this for a co-worker who's expecting a bundle next month.

Not too sure if I should use a thin cotton quilt batting, or just another piece of flannel...any suggestions would be appreciated. Also, what kind of fabric should I use to bind it?

Thanks!!!

Very pretty! I am a sucker for blues and yellows :D I think any of the colors in your quilt would work for the binding and be beautiful :D

fun fabrics ! I use a fabric from the quilt and make my own binding. Silver metal wide feeder found at Joann fabrics in quilt section. Otherwise, just normal quilt binding.

love your choice of colors!

Thank-you both for your replies.

As for the binding, I did not word the question correctly....I meant to ask:
Should I bind the quilt with a flannel fabric, or is there a better choice?

Thanks again!

I love the touch of flannel for babies. I don't know if the flannel is strong enough as a binder, the edges get a lot of wear. If your quilt is already flannel, makes sense.

I still have a quilt I made for my daughter ( 25 years old now). The flannel is still in great shape, I know I used a regular store bought quilt binding. But, I was new to the quilting thing then... The blanket was used hard and then for her baby.

Just have the fun, enjoy you are doing for someone you know and they will love it anyway!
