My quilt got stains by rusty needles. What is the best way to remove them?

Salt and lemon juice worked for me.

I had access to a chemist lab full of chemist when I was working. One of them told me to use vinegar to remove rust stains. It worked on some old linens that had safety pins left in them.

I use the salt and lemon juice method. Saturate the stain with lemon juice, sprinkle heavy with salt and place in sun. (I'm not sure that step is neccesary) I used this when my kids were small and wearing Oshkosh overalls a lot. The buckles left rust stains after a while.

I used a bar of Sunlight soap on a 100 year old christening gown. Wet the fabric in warm water. Wet bar of soap. Lay fabric on a towel and gently rub the soap into the stain. If you can lay it outside in the sun. Do not let it dry. You will have to do it a few times, just keep the fabric wet. My gown came out beautifully and was worn by my grand daughter. Be sure to rinse the fabric out well.
