Default Where do I find serial number of Singer 403a?

I thought knew where to find it but obviously not unless 172176 is it. It was underneath. Also, I've lost the Singer site that list all serial number (not Isamacs). I've searched this site but can't find any reference to Singer site.

Somebody please help. My daughter just bought me this 403a in a beautiful cabinet for my birthday and I'm trying to date it.

This is the only site I know of for dating singer machines. Hope it helps you even if it is the ismacs site.

The serial number is sometimes hard to see on the 400 series, even when you know where to look. I believe it is on the underside lip of the left side of the bed. I found some good info on serial numbers for the 301, 401, & 501 series at http://singer301.com/dating/default.html

Janey - Neat people never make the exciting discoveries I do.

Thank you Janey & John for the Singer site. I was able to find my serial number NB673661 and see that it was probably manufactured in 1959 in Anderson, SC. And, yes it was in a very hard place to find. Thanks again. I named her Happy (as in Happy Birthday). My daughter is so good to me. She also bought me a Featherweight for Mother's day a few years back.

    Hello,

I just bought a 403A with table and I love it. I found the Year of Manufacturing on:
    http://www.singersewinginfo.co.uk/anderson/

The 403 and 403 are made at different plants. The A in 403A is from the Anderson plant.

    Enjoy the machine.

BTW, I'm a 67 year old male and am just starting to sew. My older brother sewed for years at Commercial Sewing in Torrington, CT and now he works at his own shop sewing and making Bimini Tops. Boat covers, Seat covers. He gave me Sears 158.17520 workhorse and it's good but noISY. i LOVE THE 403a

Oh BTW. the serial number is located on the bottom just under the edge of the big lip on the left side. Mine is NA 932370 made in 1958. so it's 60 years old, runs like new.

    .
JerryDom this is incorrect. They were all built at the Anderson plant.
