    Default Escalloped Potatoes

Found in an old church cookbook - tried it out today - liked it very much

    Sauce:
3 Tblsp flour (mix with coffee creamer to prevent lumping)
    1/4 tsp. salt
3/4 cup plain flavor dry coffee creamer
    1/8 tsp. garlic powder
    1.5 cups boiling water
    3 Tbls soft butter
    1/4 tsp. Worcestershire sauce

    Spray an oven dish
Peel & slice 3 cups potatoes - don’t wash slices in water. Natural starch needed for thickening.
    1/4 cup chopped onions
    1 cup shredded cheese
Pour sauce on and bake covered in 325-350 oven.
Can be made in sprayed crockpot.
Start on high for 2 hours then low for about 6 hours.
    Stir every now and then.

This sounds like it's worth a try. Those old church recipe books have such good recipes. Thanks for sharing.

no, there was not. 60-70 minutes should do it.

Finally there is a recipe that measures things like potato slices and chopped onion. Most recipes say 3-4 potatoes and 1 onion. Those things come in so many different sizes, it's nice to know the measurements.

    Thanks for the recipe.

I found I needed a whisk to make the sauce smooth. Cookbook didn’t say that.

I just make a medium white sauce using milk, butter salt and pepper when making my scalloped potatoes, using powdered coffee creamer yuck.
