It looks beautiful. As long as that is your back yard and not mine. Tee hee.

I'm soooo sorry!! I know when spring fever hits that this is the absolute last thing you want to see!! Couple of weeks ago we were having beautiful weather, so I went outside raked the dirt to start some lawn seed. It was suppose to rain on and off for the next 3 days. Perfect!!! Did all the work and the next morning I woke up to snow!!!! :x

Your snow picture is beautiful but I was more struck by your name. Do you know how many Marlys' there are in the world? Not many. I now know of two. You and me! I live in Tennessee but originated from Utah. I'm an avid quilter, long armer and do the occassional art quilt. I'll share my last one with you. The challenge was entitled 'A Slice of Life'. This entry placed second.

Fall is my favorite season, every bit as colorful as spring and summer, but I love the winter. We use a wood stove and it keeps everything so cozy and nice. At least a person can dress to keep warm in the winter. Summers in Richmond, VA, are terrible. The humidity is so high that it's like living in a sauna and impossible to be comfortable. The heat drains all the energy out of me and makes me weak. Summers were fine in WV but not here. Mountains make a big difference in whether or not a person likes the summertime.

Thanks for the compliment.

The summer humidity in southern east TN is awful! We have torrential rains, lightening and thunder that can be deafening! The rest of the year it's beautiful here.

I love your quilt! I have taken 2 classes from different instructors, but I have come to the conclusion that I am meant to be a traditional piecer. But I still love to look at Art Quilts and dream!
You're right about our name. There aren't too many of us. There was another one in the small town I grew up in and there is one who lives 30 miles away (also a quilter). I have seen the name now and then but it is usually a different spelling.

OK.....I have to weigh in with those "few' of you who love the snow, so do I.
Having been raised in North Dakota, I know my snow. I just hate it, here in Ohio, when we get the hot and HUMID summer days and sometimes nights.
I often stop to wonder, how women survived in past times. Imagine wearing a corset, long petticoats, long skirt, long sleeves etc. when it is 90 degrees and humid and all of the very physical labor these women did. BTW, we are supposed to have frost for the next two nights. We did, a few weeks ago also have the one week of spring then one day of 83 degrees, now this. Most of the midwest seems to have followed suit.

Come to Fla! It's only about 85 degrees now! I couldn't imagine that it's snowing anywhere in the US right now!
