You are going to love your "New" machine! One thing to check when it isn't stitching is how you threaded the needle. I am left handed and threaded it from the outside (left) to the inside (right). Wrong! I was upset that it wasn't sewing and it was just back from the shop. The thread goes from the right to the left. Backwards for my left handed world so I always have to stop and think when threading my Elizabeth.

Are you kidding? It would say, "Thanks for letting me see the light of day, I sure I was tired of that case"!

Congrautlations on getting her going!

When you have time, go to a quilt show and see what the vendors are selling them for - you'll have a whole new appreciation for her.

One word of caution - watch the light bulb! Many a burned wrists from working on a featherweight - ask me how I know!

Enjoy :->>

Just another little tidbit of info to cut down on the frustration, when you put the bobbin in the bobbin case pull the thread gently and be sure the bobbin turns counterclockwise.

See if you can borrow, buy or obtain at the library the book "Featherweight 221 The perfect portable" by Nancy Johnson-Srebro. It is a well done very, very helpful book. Enjoy

DO NOT put oil in the motor, it will ruin it. Use only motor grease. I sell and service Featherweights in my spare time and I use Singer Motor Lubricant. It comes in a tube with a tip that makes it easy to insert the grease into the motor. I use a synthetic grease on the gears (if it has set a long time they probably need greased) You can buy a reproduction book for the featherweight or you can go to the Singer site and download a manual for free.

Congratulations on your find. Enjoy, they are a great little machine.

One more thing, it threads from the inside out. Flat side of the needle goes to the left. Very important.

I have two featherweights and wouldn't sew on anything else. Not only do you oil this machine but you grease the gears. One of mine came with the grease. It's a 1951 machine. I love the idea that I can fold it up, put it in a box and go. Have sewing machine will travel
