    I love homemade patterns, thanks!

sorry I'm new, so I have a possible stupid question... I assume when you sew the 2 squares together (to make the half square blacks), you sew 2 lines, one down each side of the marked line, then cut on the marked line, creating 2 half square blocks? correct?

I don't remember. Not too long though. I don't even remember if I made the pattern or the block first. Sorry!

Yes. And that's NOT a stupid question. I didn't even know about doing it that way until I'd been quilting probably 9 months. I would cut the squares in half and then have to sew on the diagonal. I'm glad that you know how to do it the faster and more accurate way. Good Luck! If you have any questions, just ask. I'd be happy to help you.

This is what it looks like with 6 in [finished] squares, a 1 in red border, and a 7 in outer border. About 64 in finished. I've made 3 so far. One is in my sewing room, the other 2 are in my girls rooms. Theirs are made with asian black and white prints

OH! That's pretty. So, it's just one giant block for a bed? if I understand you correctly? Very cool! How long does it take to make one that size?

I am all over this!!! I have my squares cut out - but being a bit daring - I am starting with 6 in squares, sewing down the middle, cutting in half and hoping for the best. . .now that I think about it - will my full squares be too big? Should those get cut down a little? I usually try to stick with nice round numbers since I still have a hard time measuring correctly. :)

Your HQT should start 1/2 in biggger, 3/4 to be on the safe side. Make the HST as usual, Then square them up to match the 61/2 in squares. So, for the HQT start with a 7in square.

It's a wall hanging. It's not long enough for a bed. You could design some thing to go on the top and bottom to make it long enough for a bed. I have another one cut out, and that's what I plan on doing with it. It will be for my neice.
Once it's cut out, you could peice it in one day.
