I have only ever found one product that works exactly the way it claims and DOES completely eradicate the odor. It is Oreck's Pet Enzyme Odor and Stain Eliminator. I recommend you either go down to the nearest Oreck Store or order it online. It really does work.

At the same time, you need to take the kitty to the vet for a complete checkup, to rule out a urinary tract infection. Then consider caging her or confining her to a small space, like a cage or a shower stall with a box for at least a week to retrain her. That was a recommendation from a pet behavioral specialist that worked for me.
I was wondering if that product would work on a quilt that a friend took to her house to sew on the binding for me? Months later, yesterday, I opened it up to hand sew on the binding and found the surprise left by her cat. Thanks for any help or suggestions.

When a cat does not use the litter box for urinating it's usually a urinary infection or start of kidney problems.

Oh wow, didn't think this thread was still going!
As an update, we tried Feliway and it didn't seem to do anything at all, except cost a lot of money. She had a bunch of medical tests and there was nothing wrong with her, and lo and behold as soon as we had stopped all the testing etc. she finally stopped peeing. She did it once when we went away for a week and she had peed on a suitcase we'd left behind, and rarely on the dogbed, but not for a while now.

She is very particular about all the litterboxes, which have to be immaculate. She goes up to sniff them and if they aren't to her liking walks away, which means once she's so much as peed in them they need to be changed completely.
Other than that she is a sweetheart and very loving, so it's a happy ending afterall.

Oops, got carried away editing the quote..sorry. Anyway..I don't really know what to suggest other than since it isn't bound yet so can't go in the washer...maybe try taking it to a dry cleaners? I would try to be nice about it, but how in the heck did your friend fold it up with THAT surprise in there??

It might have a infection, however I have a cat that won't do #2 in it. So now he is a outside cat. Don't like surprises.
