I am cutting down on stash also. It will take me years but I have lots of quilts in my head and I am trying to sew every day.

I just finished reading a great book about ridding the home of clutter. The author explained that there are great places to store supplies. They are called STORES for a reason.

Usually between $200 and $250. But I am making a red, white and blue basket weave for my daughter that I don't want to begin to tally!!

I don't think you can put a true price tag on a quilt as there are so many variables...eg. I make comfort quilts for nursing homes that are about 40in. X 60 in. They run me about $10-20 each. I can actually make them for practically nothing at times as I use scrap and am a bargain shopper!

I know there's a lot of variables, but just wondering.
Good gosh, I think I had well over $500.00 in my avatar quilt. But the photos ran about $300.00, and the fabric was all LQS. And that isn't counting the new sewing machine!
LOVE your response...that's how I think too!

I have my quilts done by a long arm quilt so when I calculate that in - the price is quite high :-)

I usually spend $150-$200. There is no Joanns fabric stores that I know of near where I live so I don't get 50% off coupons.

I don't know because I buy material and stuff all the time. When I do buy for a specific quilt I don't really keep tabs I just buy, and buy and buy.

I don't think I've ever figured out exactly how much I spend on fabric, backing and batting for a quilt. I buy warm and natural by the bolt with my Jo-Ann coupon. I buy as good quality fabric as I can possibly afford. I do look high and low for bargains. I bet that a quilt I make not from my stash or from scraps that would fit a bed would be about $400. Yikes! I shouldn't have just done that figuring.

I agree!!! Knowing would really be depressing!
