Welcome! I am so glad that you joined. You will be in good company. I think this board offers everything you will ever need EXCEPT fabric rehab.

Hi oldhag, and I am sure that name doesn't really suit you!
What do you suggest one is to do with old machines that are not truly functional but have motors that do respond to electricity?? I would say "working somewhat" is the proper term. My husband can run a nuclear reactor, but forget about a little motor like this old singer (early 1960s).
I have not had luck w/ the big box fabric stores to fix my old singer, they just want to sell you their new machines. But now I am exploring the 'small' quilting stores in my area to see if they have a "handy man" in the basement (so to speak) who has the ability (and patience) to fix up these oldsters! It's my Mom's old machine and perhaps if it gets fixed, someone can get some use out of it. Feel free to respond to this is you have any ideas on this topic! From Kate in small town Illinois, USA. :)

GrammaNan-awesome and I love your quote! Pieces about describes it. I am just 'starting' to get organized which means more room for all the pieces! Thanks for the warm welcome!

Hello and welcome from Boston. I'm sure you will be of some help even if you just post pictures of your work and your DGD's.
That will inspire all of us.

A warm welcome from western Oregon. You're so lucky to have your little sewing buddy. Enjoy.

Hi Kate. Where I live there is no one around who can repair any type of sewing machine. All that I have done I learned through various places on the 'net and groups like this one.I suggest you start by giving her a really good cleaning and oiling. Check out the vintage machine thread on this board and jump in there with questions. To help further it would help if you gave more particulars about your machine.
