:) Deb I wonder if there is a way to do a hot air balloon doing the log cabin block, I have just learned to do the log cabin and am making a king size quilt for our bed and was just wondering if you had any idea of how to do a hot air balloon using the log cabin pattern. :) I love this quilting board have been out of quilting for awhile and now am getting back into it and am loving it.

Karen, you could do a larger center block of a solid, say 6-1/2 inches, applique the balloon inside it, then do the strips as log cabin perhaps only 1-1/2 wide. That should work up pretty quickly and have a nice look to it. Or make the block first then appliquue' the balloon a little larger than the 6-1/2 size so the balloon is hanging over the strips a bit.

Karen, I think you could make the balloon out of a log cabin block. I am attaching a picture of one I've been playing with in EQ7 and I think it could be done. You would just have to put a triangle on each corner of the sky fabric after you complete the log cabin section of the block before you add the rest of the sky and then embroider the ropes or whatever between the balloon and basket.

There are several nice patterns that have been posted for our hot air balloons. This is going to be a real nice swap.

That is awesome bettyd. Love the fabrics, both your balloon and your basket.
