Ok, I'll play!

I grew up in New York City. Yes, Staten Island IS part of the city, it's one of the 5 boroughs that make up the city; it is physically the largest and population wise the smallest of the boroughs. But I was for the first 37 years of my life a resident of NYC.

We had a horse named Thor living next door when I was growing up, and we went to the beach often, (never leaving the island!)
No, not ALL of us were Mafia (although many....)

No, I am not "glad" that I finally got away from such a horrid place, thanks very much. I would never have moved to Virginia if it weren't for my husband. People are a lot less friendly and neighborly than in NYC.

As to Virginia...Yes, there are a heck of a lot of people who still fly the Rebel flag and think the war can still be won.

Our governors don't really make our license plates. In reality they get to go to a federal prison.
Most common misconception: Illinois has some honest politicians. We don't.
No our governors get to have 2 official portraits, 1 in a suit and tie and the other in an orange jumpsuit with #'s across the chest.

kinda embarrassing isn't it. I'm still trying to figure out how
these last two jokers got elected, gotta be the Chicago influence
at work there. I'd move, but I like the area where we live and
the people are really nice. Oh well, cie la vie!!
Sure, the old Daley coined the phrase "Vote early and vote often". Although I am proud to say I didn't vote for EITHER of the crooks.

Just because I was born and raised in Idaho does not mean that I am a "tater farmer." :)

The term red-neck was first coined when miners from other states went to West Virginia (I think it was) to help the coal miners that were being treated so badly there. They drove or rode trains as far as they could and then ended up having to walk for miles. They tied red handkerchief around their necks to show solidarity and to easily recognise each other--hence the term "Redneck". So I guess it means honest, hardworking men that care enough about others to do something about injustice.
Unfortunately the red kerchiefs made them "spottable" to others too and many were killed in an ambush in a narrow mountain pass by the mining companies hired guns.

Just a little trivia so that you'll know to walk tall and be proud the next time someone refers to you or your state's people as rednecks.
That's absolutly right raptureready,It happened just like that in Matewan,WV
We wear shoes here in West Virginia and are not all related.

I'm crushed :-( Next you are going to tell me there are no fairy rafts or banshees :!: :?: :!:

Not all Wisconites are farmers (though I know a lot of them)
We don't have 11 months of winter, just 6
But we do all LOVE the Green Bay Packers and wear packer jerseys to church
AND we do have some of the highest taxes in the country

If anyone is visiting Toronto, Canada, please don't think that the HUGE police and military presence, security fences, boarded up buildings, demonstrations, travel delays and people with short tempers is something that normally happens in this city.
The G20 delegations are in town causing chaos.

We do not all talk like Crocadile Dundee or Steve Irwin and I don't know anyone who cooks shrimps on the barbie.

I live in the country but rarely see a kangaroo but see foxes (imported vermin that kill our native wilflife) every day.

But yes I am guilty...... I do say "G'Day".
