1. If you can't see the mistake as you ride by on a galloping horse, it is ok, don't change it.

2. Chocolate and quilting are good together.

3. It is ok if you don't quilt everyday.

4. When you are starting to piece your blocks, wind several bobbins before you begin. You will be glad that you did!

5. Take care of your machine and it will take care of you.

There are some rules that are good for constructing a quilt, but there are some that are strictly attituds. I choose to list these.

1.Remember it's a hobby so relax.

2. Don't spend more than you can afford.

3. No quilt is truely perfect.

4. Everyone has their own tasts.

5 and most of all, don't neglect your hubby or family.

Well . . .

Clean bobbin area often

Don't be so cheap as to used a needle until it "thunks"

It's OK not to finish something you truly don't like (last minute purchase to take to a class - like 30 minutes before class started - and I didn't like the fabric when I bought it)

Don't wait until the last minute to buy fabric for a class (see above)

Spend some time each day sewing/quilting (even if it's only 20 minutes). Don't wait for a significant amout of time for sewing, chances are something else will pop up & it could be weeks (or longer) before you'll get back into your sewing area again. Been there, done that.

#1. Quilting is fun. Not a job
#2. Accuracy is a must - it makes things fit together
#3. Keep an eye on that bobbin
#4. If you have to unsew it twice, put it down for a while
#5. Pin the block pieces to the design wall and check and recheck often so everything is going in the right direction.

I too have a #6. Have fun its a hobby

I love your #4 since I always take pix of every project & put them in an album. I enjoy looking through it almost as much as I did making everything in it. I'm reminded of pcs. that I forgot.

1. Starch, Starch and Starch again.
2. I't not a mistake, unless you can see it from 5 feet away.
3. Stop when you are tired, or by 3am, whichever comes first.
4. There are no color rules...anything goes.
5. Just one more piece of fabric never hurt anyone.

my son made this rule...
Mom, don't start to cook anything then go quilt!

Have ruined three 3-quart saucepans, and countless dinners. What can I say? cooking is pretty far down on the list of "to do" when fabric is on my brain.

Remember that chocolate can do wonders - inspire, comfort, and console. I need all of those things when I quilt!
