I had a pile of fat quarters on the kitchen counter waiting to be put away. I forgot about them while in my sewing room. DH came to the sewing room and asked me what I was going to do with all those rags on the countertop. LOL

I bought lots of fq's when I first learned to quilt, but very soon preferred to buy yardage. I went mad trying to work out whether I had enough in a set of fq's to make a quilt I'd designed in Electric Quilt and that is when I realized their fabric estimates are most useful when buying not stashbusting.

I can't see buying a FQ when I can spend less on buying just a 1/4 of several that I really like.

I love to make scrappy quilts so I buy a lot of FQ and half yards

I do buy fat quarters but they cost more in the long run. They usually cost more than purchasing 1/4 yard of a piece of fabric. But, then, 1/4 yard pieces quite often are not very usuable. I like the width and length of a fat quarter and it works well in building a stash for scrappy quilts. And I can stop in a quilt shop while traveling and make a quick purchase and be on my way.

I buy FQ for color. As I work with a lot of color and most of the time need only a little. I work with 200 different fabrics sometimes and most of the time they may just be an FQ. In some quilts, I don't want to repeat the same fabric twice, so it works for me....

I have no fear when it comes to buying FQ...they stack so nicely and the colors are so pretty in my fabric closet... When I decide to make a new quilt, I just go buy more fabric!

I think FQs are an excuseby sellers for overpricing , encouraged by buyers ----do NOT see the need for them.

I am addicted to fat quarters! I don't have a lot of experience and the fat quarters give me a little taste of all the beautiful fabrics that I love and don't really know what to do with!

I love collecting FQ. I use these for small projects, applique and practice blocks. I only buy FQ when they are on sale.
