I love making scrap quilts. I hardly ever buy fabric anymore unless It is something in particular I need for a certain quilt. For instance, for a civil war quilt, I would need the correct fabrics. When MY little milk crate fills up, I do a scrap. I love when my friends give me scraps. I never refuse scraps. I add them to the crate and mix them in. I will have some nice scraps from my Colorful quilt when I get done.

I have had a pile of red, white/cream, blue scraps on the floor since last Friday night. I will take you upon that challenge! I would like to make a quilt for my son-in-law who served in Iraq a few years back.

what's a mile-a-minute? Sounds interesting, my scraps have long ago taken over my sewing room.

Hello Quiltmaker101:
I just started a scrappy quilt a few days ago and it's coming along really nice. I think I am going to try the "quilt as you go" process since I plan on making this a big quilt. I have a small stash and I think I will actually run out of stash before finishing it. However I do have 3 others in the making and can't touch fabric from that until they're done. Anyone want to send me their stash? I love quilting. I call it my therapy. I am trying to build my fabric selection, but has anyone noticed it's just hard to pick one or two fabrics? Just like chips, you can't have just one. I buy my fabric from JoAnns. Some of the fabric at WalMart is also found at JoAnns so I don't pay the higher prices. Although coupons at JoAnns do make it tempting to buy there. I am planning to shop at a fabric store in Lake City now because they have the most amazing prints I've ever seen. It's where I bought my new Janome recently. They are a little pricey but the prints are just amazing.

So Quiltmaker, I will take you up on your challenge. Looks like there will be a good response to this challenge.

Happy Quilting everyone!

I love making covered boxes to match the quilts w/leftover fabric. Great for gift boxes, too.

I have probably only made 1 or 2 planned quilts. I love to do the scrappy ones. I am in the process of making 2 or 3 now. I cut my scraps, thinking I was cutting for 1, but after I started sewing realized that I probably had cut enough for 2 or 3. lol Love, love, love to quilt.
