Marden's is a great store. I went there once maybe 6-7 years ago, but it was a wonderful store.

I didn't know fabric prices were going up so much. Guess I will be using fabric from my stash from now on - which is not such a bad thing!

I love pretty backings. I may have to start using muslin on the back and save the pretty fabric for the tops.

I have friends who buy colored sheets for the back, but I haven't tried it yet.

Someone on this board came back from Paducah and said that Mr. Hancock of Hancocks of Paducah had told her that fabric was going up. Ouch!

I'm going to cry when my walmart I shop at closes down the fabric area. It will happen if the supercenter comes. I buy all my fabric there.

You folks should consider yourselves lucky. The LQS in California where I shop charge from $9-$11.25/ yard now. Grab all that fabric you can get for less!

Good idea except I saw someplace not to use sheets because the thread count is too small and the needle going through the fabric, breaks the small threads and makes holes.

I used to go to Marden's with my SIL a few years ago. The prices were unbelievable. My dear sister-in-law has since passed away, but the memories of hunting down the bargains at Marden's still make me smile. And the best thing was, the fabric was quilting store quality and brands. I still have a lot of it in my stash because I bought so much yardage when I'd find something wonderful.

8-)

I guess I'll start using used material from old clothes from used clothing stores. My grandmother used to do that and I guess we can still do it now . It's called making do with what you have. gee I can't believe the high prices for materials for sewing. I'm glad I have some put asidde for emergencies.

well after reading this my overflowing stash of miss-match fabric (and some very ugly ones) don't look so bad anymore, now I call it "my goldmine" lol
