Here are my latest three quilts. I make them from "found" fabrics. My Mom recently passed away. I found the butterflies. There were enough to make three different quilts. One for each daughter. The butterflies were made in the early 50s or late 40s from sugar sacks and chicken feed sacks. The other fabric for the most part were from her fabric stash. She had in her stash, sleeves from pajamas, curtain panels, left over fabric from other projects. Great find. I am so enjoying using her left overs.

We have a wonderful quilt teacher at Adult Ed. She suggested that we cut 6" squares and center the square on a 12" square of muslin and a 10" square of batting. Add strips on two opposite sides of the square and then trim. Then add strips on the other two sides and trim to the 10 " muslin. It was so much fun because none of the strips had to match - they just had to work with the square. Fun and almost done!

Perhaps this is a regular pattern, or maybe it was her idea.
Whatever - it's fun and it's all scraps.

There's a good chance that my figures are wrong, but I hope you get the idea.

That sounds like a lot of fun! I guess I need to start looking in my scrap container and see what I can come up with. Thanks for the inspiration. And, I agree to donating them. Is there a time frame for doing this?
