Here you can see one corner of the GFG. The green pieces are developed out of the the hexagon, there is a pentagon with one straight edge, and an inner and outer shape for the corners. So you have a straight line for the binding.

Yes, the pattern was from an older "Australian Patchwork & Quilting" magazine. Must be around 10 years ago. I can go and have a look if you want. ;-)

Those are all sooo pretty! I'm not sure what the exact time period was, but they remind me of some of the quilts, etc in the Waltons TV show. :) Very beautiful.
