No not a purist with my thread if I like the color I use it no matter what it is. But with fabric I mostly use cotton.

True but I am hoping my quilts last longer than any clothing does. I've had clothes that wear out after a year or two of seasonal wearing (less sometimes-they sure make them junky anymore).
Hmmm. I agree that clothing wears out, but I'd be willing to bet that it isn't the polyester thread against the cotton. I don't think I'm going to lose sleep over my quilts wearing out.

depends on what I am working on. Generally I use all cotton. Trying to quilt thru a poly/cotton backing by hand is hard for me. Not as plyable as cotton.

I use cotton fabric always by poly thread for piecing as that is all I can purchase here. When quilting, I also use a poly thread because I feel that it is stronger. I may well be wrong--wouldn't be the first time unfortunately!

I'll use what I have, especially when it comes to thread. I often use polyester thread.

like all cotton BUT here we don't easily get wide cotton for backing ,so sometimes have to use mix.
cotton for hand quilting BUT having just travelled 30 miles for matching american sulky have LOST it ,so unless it turns up will use gutterman poly.
IN ADDITION ,always used poly batting, but prefer warm/nat SO used it for last 5 BUT my stitches are not nearly so tiny/uniform as with poly [it seems to repel needle] SO next one will be poly.
    MIX AND MATCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
