Just fold it in your hand. Or at least that's what I do. If you were to put your hand inside, you'd want to turn the Insulbrite over. I hold the backside of the potholder so like the insulbrite against the hot dish.

Thanks for sharing and taking the time to take pictures. I have made a lot of coasters using this method. I cut five 4" or 5" squares of fabric and a 4" or 5" square of thin batting or the product you used for the coasters. A set of 4 coasters tied with a ribbon make nice, easy gifts.
