I am big on color. Not that there is a right or wrong but just what appeals to me.

I'm a "sort-a" #1...I keep remembering something I heard in a lecture somewhere along the way..."Color gets all the credit and value does all the work"...

#1 - but 2, 5 & 6 rate right up there too! lol I do know that some quilts just 'hit you' & you love them - regardless of any criteria/quality/color... It's such a personal thing - all in the eyes & heart of the beholder!

Mine is "first impression". Sometimes it is color, sometimes pattern, sometimes quilting that draws me.

Im not talking about it being in a juried show, what appeals and is MOST important to YOU??
First and foremost for me is the overall impression I get from looking at a quilt. I may not always like the colors used but I can certainly appreciate the artistry of it. I have even voted (at shows) for quilts using colors I can find garrish if I find other aspects of the quilt impressive. While I can greatly appreciate the art of machine quilting, I don't usually like the quilting to compete with the blocks. I feel it should enhance the quilt not fight it for attention. And, I can also appreciate whether it is someone's first quilt or their 50th... because you can see the potential in the first quilt (whether it is design or color choices or the actual execution of the pattern), and you stand in awe of the very experienced quilter's work.
