Did your Mom bake growing up??
#72
My mom was the bread baker in her family of 11. She didn't make bread weekly but we alway had something she baked in the house. I now am the baker and due to blood sugar issues make rye bread instead of the standard white bread. No more cookies for me, but I might treat myself to Snickerdoodles once a year.

My Mom didn't really like to bake, but she was very wise. She let me find my way in the kitchen, she would be in the living room reading if I had questions. I still make a mean lemon meringue pie. My oldest brother would rate each pie...never got a 10 until he came home from collage...he really missed me!

Yep, all the time. Her specialty was cherry pie from scratch. No pie filling for her (or me for that matter. Can't stnd the taste) but tart cherries drained, sweetened, thickened, and yum. She made in the vicinity of 40 dozen cookies and such at Christmas.
My Grams alway's had a full cookie jar. Usually sugar cookies. She did the same at Christmas.
I do to but a smaller scale.
