Have been searching all my books and patterns for just the right block for a quilt for my new adopted granddaughter. I think this is it.
Thanks so much for the tute,(my grandkids think that word is very funny) it means something very different to them.
You have made my day.

Good question.

Would probably depend on how it was used. Those I've seen made like this, and other 3-D quilts with animals on them, etc, were definitely used and displayed, but not really dragged around or left for bigger kids to jump on or animals to chew. But for what I'd call probably normal baby use, even as nap quilts and play mats, they've performed great.

The neo-natal unit at our local hospital love to get quilts that have 3-D effects on them. they call them sensory quilts and the more fabrics that they are made of the better for the baby's stimulation.

For the most part, these kinds of fancy quilts, even though they are not the most difficult to make, are still conversation pieces, and are used on baby beds; as floor play quilts for the baby; as buggy covers on special dress-up trips like church or visiting; or hung over a rocking chair; or even hung on the wall.

Definitely gift quality.

p.s. They go through the laundry great, too.

What perfect timing. I just decided to make a 3D pinwheel baby quilt. Thanks. This looks much easier and a better finish than the one I have. LOL Happy Stitchin

This is way too cool! I am hoping to get my small circle of friends (we meet once a month) to do just one square and bring it to our next meeting. I think it would be a quick and easy charity quilt to try. Thank you for the tutorial. It looks easy enough...even for me. :D
