I know this sounds funny, but if you put a couple of charcoal briquets in a bowl in the bottom of the case. You can usually get rid of that smell and it will also absorb any moisture in the case.
If you live in a high humidity area you can store your machine in the case with briquets in a plastic bag or dish and it will help to keep the machine from rusting.

I think that $360 sounds really good because where I live, you can't find them and if you do I was told to expect to pay $500. Some are cheaper on e-bay but others go quite high. It depends on who wants that one, I guess. I have a black that I paid $275 for and a white $400. Sooo A white one just sold for $550 on ebay.

It depends on where you live. Around here, they are $400-$600 and they aren't cheap even at yard sales. I paid %500 for my mint condition Centenial edition. Even the case is in mint condition and it has all the original tools and manual.

I bought a black one years ago at a flea market, paid $425. DH found a white/celery at a yard sale, paid $75. Both are in excellant condition.

Yes, yes, and yes. I have seven FWs including a rare crinkle finished one and am <<<still>>> searching for a tan one that isn't going to cost me my firstborn (and only!) child.

Is it fair? Depends. If the seller is reputable and it is what he says it is, it's probably fair to him. Is it a fair/good price for you? Only you know your financial situation and are in the position to know the answer to that. Generally speaking only the buyer knows what something is worth to him/her vs how much they can or are able to afford. It certainly isn't an exorbitant price but it's not a give away either. Which brings me to my real point. I'm curious as to why are we so apt to criticize a seller for asking what may be percieved as an "unfair" price but nobody critcizes a buyer for scooping up a $35 pristine FW in a New York second without saying anything to a naive seller. That's why they call these latter purchases a "steal"...

used dryer sheets in mine and then putin the sun and the smell is gone. sometimes it is the oil mat in the bottom of the machine that has the smell and needs to be replaced
