then ironed on a stabilizer to the back and used a zig zag stitch. It's definitely much less wavy than before but not perfect. Of course I want my quilt to be perfect but this is my first one and I am just aiming for it to great to non-pro quilters, hahaha!

I'll attach a picture. Oh and yeah, the zig zag stitch isn't great on the pink, I already fixed the part that was missing some stitches.

1. Added stabilizer to back of appliques to help keep fabric from curling and then did zig zag stitch. 2. Tore off applique. 3. Finished applique. Still a little wavy but doable.

Oh weird, the first half of my message didn't post and I am also seeing my typos. AAAAH! I wish I could edit my post! Anyway, I said thanks to everyone again for their input and that I am almost done w/my appliques. I started them after the first batches of input, which were so very helpful!

Just a tip, used dryer sheets make good stabalizers.

You are doing a great job....I loved your quilt so much I started making one .Have used a variegated thread . I already had some so I didn't have to go out and purchased different coloured threads, Which was a big plus as it takes 1 /1/2 travel time just to get to the store that sells thread.

As long as the edges are stuck down you should be fine. If they are not stuck down then they roll and dance all over the place! The stabilizer I use is wall paper liner. About $9 for a roll and it should last a long time or share it and expense with others. With a tight satin stitch make sure the top thread is all that shows on the top and the bobbin thread stays out of sight. Move the entire piece together under the foot being sure to feed it through without pushing or pulling and keep it moving. If it sits in one spot it will build a mountain of thread. By the time you finish you will see such a difference between the first and last it will be amazing. It is addictive once you start getting good results!!
