I got my center yesterday...actually it's Margaret's, but it's mine for a little while! I love the colors...it is going to be so much fun...now all I want is for it to talk to me about what it needs...LOL.

I'm still waiting for the centre to start talking to me as well?

Have a couple of ideas but really need to see some fabrics before I can decide which idea will fit the bill :)

We are all so quiet...must mean everyone is working on their first border...RIGHT???? Margaret's is still on a non-talking trip...must not have like the handling it got in shipping...I have it all starched and pressed so I expect it to start talking to me any day now...LOL. Has everyone gotten their centers?

Do you starch all them as they come to you?? I'm not sure I want mine starched! Only because I've been in some swaps and received blocks that was starched alot and they was very stiff!!! Just wondering!

I am working on maybe1day's center, got started and didn't like the colors I was using so am changing it around a bit, but making progress.
I don't know if starching is always necessary, especially if we are careful each round to square up as we go. Maybe as they get handled more on later rounds.....?

It is not really necessary...I have just found that a light starch or sizing keeps the fabric true and helps prevent stretching where I don't want it. If you don't want even a light starch all you have to do is say so and it won't happen...it just seems to help me keep fabric from streching. It is by no means stiff as I don't get the fabric soaked or even wet...just insures the piece lays flat and does not stretch.

Not me Kherrin unfortunately. Firstly the centre just isn't talking to me at the moment and when it does it sends mixed messages

In the meantime I have been very busy over the past few days with our local groups airing of the Quilts week. Have today off from that so am off to the LQS to look at fabrics to match with my centre, maybe it will start talking straight with me then?
