I love old cook books, never mind I don't really cook anymore. I find them comforting to read and I love the pictures of the food. My all time favorite is Meta Givens Encyclopedia of Cooking, published in my birth year...{figure it out for yourselves}. I have lots of others though but the one that always gives me a laugh is The Congressional Club Cook Book. All the wive of senators, ambassadors, government high muckidy mucks and etc are named by their husbands title and his name...no woman is named for her self. Example: Fresh Strawberry Pie...by Mrs. John Williams, wife of senator from Delaware...and so on. These women, at the least compiled the recipes if not actually creating them. The only woman named in this cookbook is a short forward done by Bess Truman. Oh my my how times have changed and some things are very much better...I wonder if Nancy Pelosi's husband contributed to a cook book would he be listed as Mr. Nancy Pelosi ? I think not

I love my Betty Crocker Cook Book but usually vary most of the recipes I try. I love the cookbooks put out by a lot of church ladies groups. Have a whole shelf full of cookbooks and love experimenting with recipes and looking for things to try.

William has a ton of cookbooks...I have a few... :) My "go-to" books would be "Joy of Cooking" and I have a couple of Amish cookbooks that are the compiled recipes type from an Ohio community....

Love Ina Garten's books ... everything has always turned out so great. I like how she uses fewer ingredients, but better quality ingredient. I'm making myself hungry!

What book? If you check Amazon they sell both new and used editions of books. Maybe you can find what you are looking for in a used version.

You can't beat the cookbooks by the churches, clubs, etc. They are tried and true recipes and I have several of them. UMMMMmmmm, Good.
