Its 1:30 am and I just stopped sewing for tonight. I am working on Christmas place mats and runners for my married daughter and son. Finally decided on what fabrics from my huge stash. Also today I finished a lap quilt for a cousin and just need to tie a turning twenty for my SIL for his semi. Busy day!!!

So sorry to hear that. Hope you are feeling better after the injury. I am not working this year either. They had to "cut" the budget at school this year. I am a retired teacher but have been working as a math tutorial teacher 4 days a week at our middle elem. school for the last 5 yrs. and this year they said they could only have two instead of three since there are only two grades in that school. Well, I was the first tutor hired for that school, and the first let go. Doesn't make sense, but then what does with school districts. That extra money has certaintly been a blessing for us. Had plans to use it to pay off (early)DH new suv we bought last spring, but that will have to wait now. We will jsut have to make payments for another year. At least I have my retirement, and we will have both SS coming in beginning this month, I draw my first check in a couple of weeks, and DH is still working. God will take care of us.

The quilts of your grandmothers can wait until after Christmas. I made my dad a log cabin quilt for BD and Fathers day combined the year my mother passed away. It really meant something to him, even though my mother didn't quilt. He is gone now so I have it. It will go to my son later. I know your dad will cherish the quilt, because of the love that will go into it.

It's too bad we all don't live near each other and could get together and have a great big quilting session, maybe have sort of a group like automotive assembly lines with some doing cutting for all, others binding, pinning sandwiching, etc. That would really be great.

msuewhite: Yours is gorgeous too. It's sure fun to have granddaughters to make them for. I'm also going to - or hope to - make a quilt for my 98 year old dad using old pictures of him and his family. He's been fixated on pictures of himself and his parents, so I thought a lap quilt with the old pictures would really keep him warm, in spirit and body.

Are the table toppers quick and easy to do? I need a quick and easy pattern for my niece and hubby. Do you share?

Does anyone remember who posted the darling pic. of the apron made from Bib overalls? I bought a couple pair at the thrift shop here but I'm at a loss as to what she did with the straps. If you are on this thread, please pm me. thanks Gerbie

I have made one lap quilt, two completed wall hangings and am working on a third one.

I don't know the correct name for the quilt, but cut your squares in the size you want. Then place them back to back sew about 1/4 -1/2 in inside all around the squares, join the squares and fray the edges. Makes a quick lap quilt. Not very good instructions, but pm me if no one has a site for a tutorial and I will try and explaing better. These are quick. and easy. You can add batting or not .

77 DAYS!?!?!?! I have the fabric for aprons and potholders from last year that didn't get done and Plan B had to be initiated. I better get busy or will have to come up with a Plan C. :shock: :shock: :shock:
