Contact your phone company, maybe even the sheriff.

Good luck.

how about tell them to wait a moment you are with a customer, then put down the receiver for an amount of time you are comfortable with (knowing you are a business and don't want to lose a call) ... then hang up without speaking to them.

or is this too mean? I would think they would get the hint.

I like to ask the person making the call if I could have their home telephone number so that I can call them at dinner time and talk to them.

I love the "oh....how nice of you to call and check on me today" speil. Then you can launch into any number of things that have been "ailing" you- from your tin ear to your gimpy knee..bad back...splinter in your finger, dust in your eyes...and on and on....they'll hang up, I guarentee it..

Otherwise, the best solution- Caller ID,.

Have fun!

Seems to me that some time ago I got an e-mail telling how to discourage telemarketers. Every time you get one, I think it said to immediately punch pound and star, either both or one at a time, several times in a row. Supposed to foul up their computerized numbers they were supposed to call.

I've been trying to find this because of all the political calls I"ve been getting.

Or, simply tell them you know they are trying to make a living, but you never buy anything over the phone and hang up. Never argue or discuss your stand. Firm but not buying from them. Hanging up cuts into their profits.

If you have a rollover line that you can use, as soon as you know who they are say "Just a moment please" and set the phone down. They will get tired of waiting and eventually stop calling you. Worked for us!

They have a caller ID @ "WM" that is $10.00. you would have the # to give the police. Also if you sue you can win $1500.00 +. for harrassing you in SCCt.
I like the e-mail someone sent me about a man that answered the phone and started asking the guy how he knew the man he was calling??? There was a crime scene here and he need to ask him questions about his relatonship with this man. It went on for several min. and was hysterical!!!!!!
I hate it now with elections coming up. I'm prepared for them. I have all kinds of crazy things I'm going to say.
Best of luck.............................................. ..

His end usually consists of him telling the telemarketer all about his family, about how he just got out of jail, has no job but makes a little by robbing banks so he could probably pay the CC bill, how all the women in the family are prostitutes so they can help. He has a complete alter-identity made up so he can take the tm's through the entire application process using fake data.

Sometimes he uses his very thick fake Norwegian accent and drops in a few Norwegian words here and there.

It's just a hoot.

But here's the funniest one I've ever heard:

That is funny, he did a great job.
