Bias: take a square of fabric..fold bottom right to top left making triangle shape..then fold top right of triangle and bottom left of triangle to overlap..cut fold off about 1/8 inch.. then cut strips..I cut 1 1/4 in..wrong sides together..sew seam scant 1/4 in...press flat with seam in middle of back.. practice folding technique using square paper napkin first...hope that helps....judy

Almost forgot when tracing these patterns ..instead of tracing the two lines of pattern just trace down the middle..that way your fabric will not be inside the pattern lines..you may use a small dot of fabric glue to hold bias down instead of all the pins....judy

looks great. i just got a royal batik fabric to make bias to go on a black background for a throw pillow. been wanting to try a celtic knot and wanted to start small.
