Welcome to the board babydragon. Not sure if we can stop you from going crazy but it's a good group to explain things. I have heard of back basting but haven't done it myself so will also be interested in hearing the explanation.

I also back baste(?, prebaste,) the awkward, hard to turn or pointy parts, it is just much easier, paobably won't need to do this when I get better at needle turn.

Welcome babydragon, you'll get a lot of support here. What kind of project are you doing?

well actually 2 projects ( i tend to get bored easy) one is 12 " squares with batik stars of david ( jewish stars)...and the other is a design i am working out for a wall hanging, based on the poem by eugene fields " the sugar plum tree"

I am teaching myself...not doing too badly...needleturn, but not sure I like it and will probably try freezer paper for the tree...i can blind sew pretty well cause I am short and always had to hem clothes. my big issue right now is in the design stage for the tree...that and needing a small sitting cat and standing dog pattern.

Decided to do this candle mat last night. It should be finished by this weekend if I figure out what fabric to use for the back.
