Pat Sloan has an excellent tutorial, video and PDF on this subject.

I have done it and it sure saves on time when you are in a pinch for time.

Same can be done by pulling the border of the front around to the back. My MIL did that - either way - and it worked for her...and looks good too.

Not sure what you mean. But on some of my quilts, I leave approx 2-2 1/2 inches over the quilt edge of the backing, fold the edge of the backing and use it as the binding when I am blending the backing with the front, and times I use the binding I made if I want to accent the quilt. Either way works.

It seems I am always in a pinch for time! I will have to try this way the next time I make a project.

I do all my bindings that way. Here's an excellent website with visual instructions you can print out.

I just looked at the Pat Sloan tutorial and she makes it look so easy! I hope I can do it!

great website. I had always quilted this way (for many years) until a few years ago, when I started reading quilt books. now, I still use it when the backing is particularly pretty and lends a framed look to the quilt.
