Welcome from British Columbia, Canada.
My advice on a sewing machine is buy the best you can afford. I bought a machine because of the cheaper cost, and ended up upgrading within a year. I should have used my old machine and saved up for that extra year.

I don't know that model but I am a Pfaffie as somebody said. My first Pfaff is a Tiptronic 2030, I bought it 10 yrs ago and I doubt I would change it. 2 yrs ago I bought a Pfaff Cover Style- love it. And you know what? Just today I bought a Pfaff 2170 (for embroidery)- used, I know is at least 7 yrs old but won over a brand new machine for the same price.
So, enjoy your machine, keep sorting fabric, choosing patterns and be ready for when your fingers heal. Keep up with the board and get exited with all the excellent quilters there are here. Good luck!

Welcome from Down Under. Love the UK, so much so that I married a Geordie 38 years ago.

Check whether you can get a quarter inch foot for the 1471 first. My friend has that machine as a back - up and could not get one. The measurement of the Pfaff feet changed at about the 7550 model. If you are not worried about making the quarter inch seams it would be OK.
I traded in my earlier model Pfaff for 2144 and in some respects I'm sorry, as the earlier one was trouble free and this one won't communicate with the computer.
