I'm taking an English Paper Piecing class from cddesigns.com (free) and somewhere saw the greatest hint. Use the small paper clamps to hold paper and cloth together

It does work great. Paper clips also work very well if your kids run off with your tiny little clamps. Ask me how I know?

The tiny plastic clothespins you buy in the stationary stores work really well too.
