I love paper piecing. I just read bits and pieces here and there and did it. So I can't recommend any books but I will tell you my printed (HP) had trouble with Carol Doaks paper. I have used two other brands and had no trouble, you should measure a couple if you are printing them off the computer.

I just did a quick check on www.bn.com (Barnes and Noble), and they have Carol Doak books. Free shipping right now. They probably have some of the others that were mentioned as well.

Definately use a coupon for JoAns and get the Carol DOak DVD
I self taught myself to pp, but then I saw her online doing a demo and I thought WOW she makes it look so easy. SO I got the dvd, well worth 19.99, and on her website, and thru other quilt stores. So I love it, everything is easy. JUst think backwards when you are PP. LOL
Best of luck, join her ahoo group as well!

When you get into it I fell in love with silverliningsoriginals.com. Her name is Linda Hibbert. But I certainly agree most heartly about Carol Doaks. Her hearts are what I started out with. My quilt of the bears is paper pieced from a pattern by Linda.

Is this a pattern or did you create yourself? If it's a pattern, do you have the name? I love the quilt. It is really unusual and I love paper piecing.

Your quilt is beautiful, DeeBooper! A lot of work went into it, but I guess you consider it well worth your time to have won second place. Good for you!
