    my favorite is Hobbs poly-down - a bit more of a loft than cotton, and holds in the heat.

    I made a large one for my son and I put a heavy blanket in it and he just loves it.

    My flannel quilt is flannel on top and backing. I used a poly batting and it is wonderfully warm. I hand quilted it using a thicker thread (I think it was called "Jean thread") and I made slightly longer stitches. Small stitches and regular quilting thread gets buried in the nap of the fabric.

    I just finished a flannel one and used warm/naturalI live in the Rocky Mnts and I'm sure this will be plenty warm
