I machine sew on both the front and back of binding on all my quilts. the only quilting I do by hand is the actually had quilting on some smaller projects. I cut my binding 2 1/2 inches wide and sew it along the edge of the front of the quilt with a 1/4 inch seam using a walking foot. I then fold the binding to the back and still from the front but now in the ditch, between the binding and quilt top, I stitch with a walking foot in the ditch. Stitch lenght at 3.0 or 3.5 with a thread that blends well with the fabric.

I have one that I need to get up and do the front side tonight. We are taking a little road trip for the weekend and was planning on hand stitching the binding to the back in the car...I can do one of yours if you do mine, but that really won't help you much, would it...LOL.
Speaking of which, you know the Calico Station is having some sort of elf days or something next week where you can use their sewing space for free and they offered to confiscate any distractions, LOL,if you are not motivated by then, maybe you should give it a try:)

I personally love the hand sewing when attaching binding. It's therapy. I use the ladder stitch which goes quickly and you don't need to pin or clip the binding.
I do lots of preemie quilts to donate and can't always hand sew them due to time restraints so I machine sew using this method. Scroll down and watch the video. It's really slick.

love the quilts. It's wonderful that you're up to the binding. I'm sitting here with the rotary cutter and thinking I don't want to do this. At least you have the quilts done. I love to piece and machine quilt. I hate the cutting and the binding. And I do procrastinate. Join the club. There are lots of us and lots of UFOs.
