I hope my mind never catches up with the age I see on paper. We were all young at one time & everybody gets their turn at being old.
I totally agree with you. I am 71 and mostly still feel like I did when I was younger. I know people who are a lot younger than me and look older and really act older. I think that comes from not "doing" anything or having any interests to take you places. I have lost so many friends that I don't have anyone to pal around with any more except red hatters. But I still go and do just about anything I want to. I plan to keep doing it for many more years. Oh yes, I have aches and pains too but have a high pain threshold and I mostly just ignore it.
My Gram is 71 and was complaining at one of my girls' birthday about all the trouble it is to stay awake. I reminded her that my aunt, her sister in law, was 77 and couldn't get around without much assistance and a walker so it could always get worse...but it could always be better as well. My husband's Grandfather is 73 and still just as spry as his kids. He mows the lawn, works on rebuilding classic cars and drives all over the country (not a flier) to see his 7 kids while spending half the year in AZ and half the year here in NY. And our old family neighbor is in her 80's with a rare condition she's had for years but still mows her lawn, works, cooks for the sick and dating! I pray I'm able to be half so energetic at their ages.
