I haven't read through all 13 pages of this thread to see if anyone has mentioned this product, but Odor Mute is excellent for leaky pet odors. It is a powder that you dissolve in water when you need it, so it doesn't lose strength during storage. Just mix a tablespoon per gallon or teaspoon per quart, saturate the spot, let it sit a while, and blot it out. Your local pet shop should be able to order it, or look online. It's worth every penny and lasts a long time.

pee'd onto hardwood floors and it had soaked into them, so no indoors cats for this gal.. :D

Try soaking in pinesol water---just give a pour in the wash water and use your regular soap. Then rewash in regular soap. You may have to do it twice if it's really bad. I use to work at a dry cleaners. Good luck!

It is dangerous to boil vinegar and breathe the fumes. I had a friend end up in the hospital when she did that. She was trying to get rid of a skunk smell.

marknfran: We lost our cat too from the China catfood fiasco; we joined the class action lawsuit in Nov. 2008. Haven't heard from them! We were just wondering a few days ago about it.

Have you gotten notice of the lawsuit being dropped??
    Thanks.

Quiltylady: by buying catfood at Costco, does that mean you buy the Kirkland brand??
    Thanks.

Try letting the affected area soak in pet odor remover (comes in spray bottles) then wash on long wash cycle that includes OxyClean and detergent. May take 2 or 3 washes. What a pain!!!! I've had to wash a quilt, blankets and sheets this way when the cat peed on the bed.

I had given my daughter's cat a home when she moved and could not have pets. Autumn rolled around and I turned on the heat. That's when I discovered the cat had been peeing down one of the heating vents. It was overwhelming. I used Trisodium Phosphate (rubber gloves needed) to get rid of the odor, but it is caustic and I wouldn't use it on fabric. Have you tried Rhino spray? I'd test it on a scrap first.
