When my mother passed . She had one quilt that she used all the time on her bed. I got that one and I just wrap it around me and feel the love surrounding me. I did not even wash it at first so I could smell her cologne. I have several others but the one she used every day is most precious.

I'm wondeering if I should give them away or wait to see if in time it won't hurt so badly to see them. I don't know if anyone else would actually want them. Any advice or similar stories would be greatly appreciated.
When my Mother passed away, I got all of her quilts, mostly made by her. I taught my mom how to quilt. I kept them packed away for awhile, also. They are a real comfort to me now. She loved to make quilts and I know there was love sewed in every stitch. Some day they will go to my 3 daughters.

I am also sorry for your loss. Time heals all and I think you have been given good advice. store them for now and wait to see how you feel in Time. It is nice that you have family to give too.Memorys can be cherished for a long time. Perhaps taking some photos of them would be nice. Hugs Genny

I would take them back and store them until some time has passed. The pain never goes away, but time does dull it a bit. You may realize you do want the quilts, or may come to know to whom you wish to give the quilts. I wouldn't make that decision while the pain is so fresh.

I am lucky to still have both my parents, so although I don't know the actual loss you are suffering, my heart goes out to you and I hope you find peace in her memories.

I made a special quilt for my Mom. She kept it on her bed until she passed away. The quilt was the only thing I really wanted back of hers. It is such a comfort to me. When I am really feeling down and missing her I get that quilt, wrap up in it and think of all the happy times with her.

When the time is right you will know what to do with them.

Whatever you do, do not give anything away for at least a year. It takes time to heal from your loss.

((hugs)) It's okay to cry. God bless you and your family.

Speaking from experience here. Go get them, put them away where you won't have to look at them. When time passes and the pain isn't so raw, you will want to find them, and relive the memories. If you find you still don't want them, maybe a grand child or your sister will want them.

I totally agree and perhaps down the road a piece you can pass them on to your children. What a marvelous gift that would be. God Bless you and know that He has her in the palm of His hand. Edie
