Any of the Marden's stores in Maine. They sell very discounted and very good quality quilt material.

The Fabric Garden in Madison ME. is great as well at Mariner's Compass in Bath, ME.

In the Finger Lakes of Western NY, we are fortunate to have several great choices.

Lower prices but bare bones - Golden Lane in Himrod (it's a Mennonite shop). Normal pricing is about $5.50 now - but Ada has a sale off of those prices for a week in February.

O'Susannah's in Watkins Glen is nice; kind of small.

My actual LQS I shop at most often is Ivy Thimble, in Victor.

Calico Gals in Fayetteville

Patchwork Plus in Marcellus (used to be in Skaneateles, moved up the road)

Material Rewards in Dansville

Mount Pleasant in York

Big Flats, Ithaca and Hammondsport also have nice shops.

Seriously, the Finger Lakes are a great place to visit. Good wines, too...

For instances. A new shop has opened up near me. It is called "The $1.99 Fabric Store" Everything in the store is $1.99 per yd. Home Dec, Dress fabric and cotton quilting fabric. The cotton is mixed in quality. Most of it is big box quality but hidden among these are good quilt shop quality. They have a second store down in Connecticut.
Then there is Mardens in Maine that sells prior seasons fabric at $2.97 and $3.97 per yd.
In Grand Junction, Colo its Hi-Fashion Fabrics on Patterson just west of First, in Hotchkiss, Co it is Quilt Patch on Bridge St. and in Delta, Co it is Clubbs, two stores, both on Main, plus Phillipsfiberarts on Second St.
These are the places I would like to know about. Even LQS that has good sales. One shop in my area has a back room where all is $5.00 per yd.

Just remember when Googling to call ahead and make sure they are still open. Many of the shops shown on-line have since closed....it might be nice to have a current list.

I think this is a good idea.
I just moved to Virginia Beach. I don't know where anything is . Well I have made it to Food Lion, Petsmart, and Walmart but that's it. Pretty much straight lines from where the house is.
Some places are not open anymore. Some places may not be "nice" to go to. I would much rather have a recommendation from someone that has shopped there then just googling.

Sir's Fabric in Fayetteville, Tn. is a great place to shop. Lots of fabric at very reasonable prices. Also can order on line at Sirsfabric.com

I just returned from south Alabama (taking my mother back home from Christmas holiday). I shop at Fabrics by the Pound in Summerdale and love it. I am told there is a Hancock in Daphne--about 15 miles from FBP.

There is a wonderful quilt shop in LaPlata, Maryland. Material Girls Quilt Boutique. They bend over backwards to help and there are many of my quilts that if they didn't help me would not have been made.

Material Girls Quilt Boutique
6750B Crain Highway (Rt 301)
LaPlata, MD 20646
Ph: 301-392-9575

There is also:
Cottonseed Glory in Annapolis, MD
Seminole Sampler in Catonsville, MD
Jinny Beyers Studio, 776F Walker Road, Great Falls, VA
Bear Paw's - not sure of the exact city.

Hope this helps!! - Cathleen McSorley
